William (Bill) Joseph Perkowski, Sr., age 79, died Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York after a short battle with lung cancer.

Bill is survived by his four children, Dawn (David) Vorraro-Robinson, William (Gina) J. Perkowski, Jr.,

Brooke (Brian) Mabb, Mary (Wayne) Dixson; his five grandchildren, Danielle, Gabriele, Shyanne, Andrew,

Gregory and his three great-grandchildren, Skyler, Kameron and Eli. He is also survived by his sister, Judy

(Wayne) Van Amburgh, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by

his parents, Felix J. and Manuella Perkowski of Greenville, New York.

Bill was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Long Bein with the 163 rd ,

Transportation 6 th Battalion 48 Group. He became a life member of the V.F.W in 1968, holding many

positions throughout his tenure including Junior Vice Commander, Post Commander and 3 rd District

Commander. In 1991 he became All-State District Commander and then All-American District

Commander; this was the 1 st time Rip Van Winkle Counties Council had ever had an All-American

Commander in the 3 rd District V.F.W. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Military Order

of Cooties, Elks Lodge 1341 of Catskill and a life member of the National Rifle Association. The discipline

and patriotism he learned in the U.S. Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 4, from 4pm – 7pm at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, with a service and time of sharing at 6:30 pm. Interment with honors will be held Friday, April 5, at 11am at the Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project will be appreciated.
