HURLEY – Thelma Armstrong Mack, 82, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023.

Thelma was born in Catskill on November 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Floyd and Beulah Sutton Armstrong. She was a graduate of Greenville Central School, class of 1959, and was an active member of the reunion committee. Thelma has resided in Hurley since 1961. She worked for a few years at Central Hudson, and provided child care in her home for 27 years, caring for more than 100 children over those years. Thelma was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Kingston, where she taught Sunday school for many years and served during those years as Sunday School Superintendent.

Thelma is survived by her husband of 62 years, George H. Mack; children, Kenneth D. Mack of San Jose, CA, Cynthia M. (George) Loayza of South Riding, VA, and Keith G. Mack of Hurley; grandchildren, Ryan and Kathryn Mack, and Tristan and Devon Loayza; siblings, Edmund Armstrong, Minnie Frees, Marjorie Allen, Floyd Armstrong Jr.; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred McManus and Mabel Jean Armstrong.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 28th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Winston Cemetery, East Durham. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Thelma’s love for children, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org will be appreciated.
