Obituary of Benjamin E. Snyder, Jr.
Benjamin E. Snyder, Jr., 82 years, of East Durham, NY (formerly of Medusa) passed away on Jan. 21, 2010 in the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was born in Medusa, NY on Apr. 24, 1927, son of the late Benjamin E. and Millicent (Spaulding) Snyder, Sr.. Ben was a graduate of Greenville Central School. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War attaining the rank of Staff Sgt.. He was employed at Hannay Reels in Westerlo, NY for 37 yrs. Ben was a Charter Member of the Medusa Vol. Fire Co., a Charter Member of the Rensselaerville Vol. Ambulance, and a member of the Clark White American Legion Post # 589 & Member of the Medusa United Church of Christ. Ben was an avid golfer and fisherman and liked John Deere tractors. He was a friend to all. Besides his parents, Ben was predeceased by two sisters, Marguerite Starr and Marion Waldron. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Lois (Johnson) Snyder, his two sons, David Snyder (Sandra) and Steven B. Snyder (Bonnie), three grandchildren, Shawn, Amanda and Dylan Snyder, one great grandchild, Aryana Lansburg, a sister, Carolyn Schultz and several nieces and nephews. All services, at this time, are at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY 12083. There will be a Committal Service in the Spring in the Medusa Cemetery.
