COOKSBURG - Ernest W. Cook, 87, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at The Pines of Catskill. Born in Potter Hollow on Dec. 3, 1923, he was son of the late Dean and Clara Bates Cook. He attended the Potter Hollow School and Middleburgh High School. Mr. Cook was self-employed as a farmer and excavator. He also raised chickens, and peddled his homemade butter. Mr. Cook enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by five children, Stanley Cook, Gene (Melissa) Cook, William Cook, Marie (Patrick) Rooney and Kathy (Edward) Kohler; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Olive LaBonte, Eldon, Robert (Peggy) and Walter (Wilma) Cook; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Doris G. Snyder Cook on Nov. 16, 2009; two daughters, Joan Kelderhouse and Darleen Cook; two brothers, Oliver and Lawrence Cook. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Potter Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Rensselaerville Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 182, Rensselaerville, NY 12147-0182 will be appreciated. Light a candle at ajcunninghamfh.com.
