Allen John Schmidt

CORNWALLVILLE - Allen John “Al” Schmidt, 75, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday February 5, 2023. He was born in Brooklyn on May 11, 1947 to the late John and Amanda Schweickert Schmidt. After graduating from Franklin Central, Allen was a general contractor in and around New York City. He settled in Cornwallville in the early eighties and was a code enforcer for the Town of Durham. Al was a member of the Republican Party, the Conservative Party, and was a lifetime fireman. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with friends. Al is survived by his son, John.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday February 9th from 4pm to 6pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by a Fire Company Service at 6pm. Al will be interred on Saturday February 11th at 11am at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Firemen’s Home at https://firemenshome.com/give/ .
