Anne was a special colleague and friend who was brilliant, strategic, warm, fun loving, creative and a million other adjectives. When we had differences, she was civil and at the next opportunity would warm again. We learned to get along when we disagreed and teamed up mightily when we did agree. Early childhood folks are deeply indebted to her as Ellen W. noted, whether they know it or not. I was her colleague as a TA at NCCIC for years, and worked with her when she led NAEYC. She helped shape a better world, where the children we love, all children, are given the opportunities they deserve, to thrive. Godspeed Anne!
