Obituary of Kathleen B. Bennett

RENSSELAERVILLE - Kathleen B. Bennett, a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Rensselaerville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 in the Guilderland Center Nursing Home, in Guilderland, NY. She was born in Albany, NY on Aug. 5, 1919, daughter of the late Edward J. and Delia (Clancy) Bruso. Kathleen was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute in Albany. Kathleen's family had a camp at Myosotis Lake, Rensselaerville, where she met and later married Stanley D. Bennett. They made their home on Main Street, Rensselaerville, and raised four children, Richard, Kathleen, Michael and Lee. Kathleen loved Rensselaerville and was very active in the community. She was a member of the American Legion Clark White Post 589 Auxiliary for 59 years, the Rensselaerville Library, Rensselaerville Volunteer Ambulance Squad to name a few. She was also a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville. Kathleen worked at the D & H Railroad Building (now SUNY Administration) in downtown Albany before her marriage. She worked as a secretary for the Institute of Man & Science (Rensselaerville Meeting Center) and was the District Clerk at the Greenville Central School until her retirement in the 1980's. Her favorite activities in later years were the summer picnics at Myosotis Lake with family and friends, traveling, and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen A. Hallenbeck and husband Frank of Rensselaerville, son Michael Bennett of Bozrah, CT, son Lee Bennett and his wife Jennifer of Ballston Lake, daughter-in-law Randi Bennett of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Hallenbeck, William Hallenbeck, Jennifer Somers-Isby, Christopher Bennett, Melissa Bennett, Lauren Bennett, Debra Wagner and Dana Cooke; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother, Eugene Brousseau of Clifton Park. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley D. Bennett in 1987, a son, Richard Bennett, three brothers, Francis, Edward and Howard, and two sisters, Delores and Mary Ethel. Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY. The Clark White Post #589 Aux. will have a service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Rte. 81,Greenville, NY.
