Obituary of Richard Earl Mullen

EARLTON – Richard "Moon" Mullen, 83, passed away on Monday February 13, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1933 in Syracuse to the late John and Laura Holdermen Mullen. Richard joined the U.S. Army shortly after high school, and then was in the Reserves for 6 years after being Honorably Discharged. On August 31, 1957, he married Shirley Jane LaDue. Richard owned and operated a gas station in Hilton, NY, then became a truck driver for Fleming Trucking, and then he drove for McBride's Transportation, which brought him to the Greene County area. He then worked as a mechanic at A.R. Gundry Inc., and then as a truck driver for Don Millious Construction in Selkirk, before retiring from Callanan Industries in South Bethlehem. Richard enjoyed riding and working on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his brothers, John, Gerald, and William Mullen; and his sister Katherine Mullen. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his children, Craig (Debbie) Mullen, Tracey Krieg, and Scott (Melinda) Mullen; his grandchildren, Justin and John Stratta, Amanda Cole, and Zoe and Connor Mullen; his great-grandchildren, Talia and Dean; his brothers, Kenneth, Thomas, and James Mullen; and many nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, he has been privately cremated and there will be no services. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
