Obituary of William G. Haller

WESTERLO – William G. Haller, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 22, 1948 in Huntington, NY to the late Gustav and Adelaide Rasmussen Haller. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to South Westerlo. Bill graduated from Greenville Central School and then joined the U.S. Navy. After he was Honorably Discharged, he worked as a carpenter with his father-in-law, Walt Jennings. He then worked as a machinist for CSX until his retirement. Bill was a life member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Company, having joined in 1975. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He also enjoyed coaching Little League. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his high school sweetheart, Christine Jennings Haller in June 2016. Bill is survived by his children, William "Billy" (Monique) Haller, Dawn (Joseph) Danner, Brian (Tammy) Haller, and Debra (Donald) Filkins; his grandchildren, Jeremy Danner, Allison Haller, Jamie Danner, Samantha Filkins, Ryan Haller, Nicole Filkins, Emma Haller, and Jessie Filkins; his sister Nancy (Ronald) Snow; and many nieces and nephews. A reception in Bill's memory will take place on Saturday January 28th at 1pm at Modern Woodman's Hall, 980 County Route 401, Westerlo. A private burial is to take place in the spring.
