Obituary of Madison Deyo Chesbro, III

GREENVILLE – Madison Deyo Chesbro III, (Mat), 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7 at the Albany VA hospital after a long tough battle with cancer. He was born in Catskill, New York on July 18, 1947 to the late Madison Deyo Chesbro Jr and Nettie Denton Chesbro. Mat was a Christian who attended the Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, NY and also attended Church Of Thee Light in Orlando, FL. Mat joined the Army and served from 1964 to 1967. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and was a part of the 503rd Engineers. Mat was well liked with many friends and was always willing to lend a hand with a smile on his face. Mat had many interesting jobs in his lifetime including being an equipment operator, working for the railroad, general real estate, timeshare, buying, selling, and towing vehicles. Mat was the happiest when he was a long haul truck driver driving across the country. One of Mat's most memorable trips was when his mother Nettie accompanied him across the country for over a month while she was in her golden years. Mat was a great guitar player and singer who could always be found with an acoustic guitar nearby. He loved to go fishing with his son Wes for big mouth bass in the lakes and for red drum in the ocean. Mat also loved to help his brother Charlie in the garage and was Charlie's right hand man as long as the wood stove was burning. Mat had a passion for Harley Davidson's and Indian motorcycles. In his younger years he loved working on his Panhead chopper with his good friend Danny Henke. When in Orlando Mat could always be found at the local BBQ joints eating ribs and enjoying all the BBQ. Mat and his son Wes would always attend the annual Turkey Rod Run in November at the Daytona International Speedway which is one of the largest antique car events in the country. Surviving are his son Wesley Madison Chesbro of Orlando, FL, his former wife Karen Butts of Orlando, FL, his brother Charlie and wife Rebecca Chesbro of Greenville, NY, his sister Sandra Hladik of South Cairo, NY, his sister Diane Briggs of Greenville, NY, his cousin and devoted caregiver Lois Kudlack of South Daytona Beach and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
