Obituary of Joan Laraine Assini

CONESVILLE – Joan L. Assini, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 2, 2016. She was born on October 21, 1953 in Margaretville to Margaret Fancher Tompkins and the late Audrey Tompkins. She was raised in Conesville and graduated from the Gilboa High School. Joan spent time raising her children before going to Columbia-Greene Community College. She worked in various insurance companies, such as Commercial Mutual Insurance Company in Catskill, Brabazon Agency in Windham, and most recently at Colonie General Agency in Latham until 2007, as a customer service representative. She was a member of the Conesville Methodist Church and of the Mountain Top Seniors. Joan enjoyed collecting antiques, crocheting blankets, and working on arts and crafts projects, such as wall decorations and wreaths. Joan is survived by her husband, Matthew Assini; her children, Brian Flores of Oldsmar, FL and Tobey (Liz) Flores of Swananoa, NC; her grandchildren, Tristan, Eleanor, and Luis; her sisters, Carolyn (Gene) Wyckoff and Susan (Kelly) Smith; her mother, Margaret Tompkins; and many nieces, nephews, and pets. A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 6th at 11am in the Manorkill Rural Cemetery.
