Obituary of Dorothy E. Overbaugh

MEDUSA – Dorothy E. Huested Overbaugh, 92, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 after a brief illness. Born at home in Norton Hill on October 12, 1922, she was daughter of the late Maurice and Nellie Palmer Huested. Dorothy graduated from Greenville Central School, class of 1940, and from Albany Business College. She married Jeremiah C. "Jerry" Overbaugh on Palm Sunday, April 2, 1944 in the Norton Hill Methodist Church. They settled in Medusa and started Hickory Grove Farm. Dorothy and Jerry were married for 65 years at the time of his passing on September 18, 2009. Dorothy was a life member of the United Methodist Church of Greenville & Norton Hill. She also was a member of Women's Christian Endeavor and UMW. Dorothy participated in the annual Crop Walk for many years. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Alexander and her companion Rod Grau; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark C. and Maryanne Wiseman Overbaugh; two grandsons, David Alexander and Jeremiah Overbaugh; one sister, Clarice Walker; her best friend, Dorothy Wilkinson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the United Methodist Church of Greenville & Norton Hill, 5830 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be at 12 noon at the church, followed by burial in Medusa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the church, PO Box 599, Greenville, NY 12083 will be appreciated.
